Research Center in Informatics and Information Technology

The IIT Research Center has been operating since 2002. It was established by Order no. 80 / 09.04.2002 under the name of the Research Center in Communication Science and Information Technology and approved by the LUBS Senat on 02.07.2002. It was certified by CNSIS in 2006, through Certificate nr. 24/12.09.2006 under the same name. In 2014, to better reflect the scope of the research center activity, its name was changed in Research Center in Informatics and Information Technology (RC-IIT). Under this name it was re-evaluated and appears among the research centers within the LUBS, certified by Decision no. 81/1 /10.02.2014 regarding the recognition of the existing scientific research centers in the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu.

The research center is structured into three research groups: Modelling and Optimization of Intelligent Systems, Development and Verification of Intelligent Systems and Advanced Information Systems and Technologies.

The main research directions of the Modelling and Optimization of Intelligent Systems group are:

Machine Learning, Systems inspired by Biology, Control Theory, Approximation and Optimization, Scientific Computing, Intelligent Systems, Modelling, Simulation, Informatics Systems Security.

The main research directions of the Development and Verification of Intelligent Systems group are:

Neural Networks, Evolutionary Computation, Reinforcement learning, Web Services, Multi-Agent Systems, Low-Code Development Platforms, Model Checking, Machine Learning in Oracle Database.

The main research directions of the Advanced Information Systems and Technologies group are:

Data Mining, Data Analysis, Web Communications, Advanced Databases, Human Computer Interaction, Information Systems, Distributed Systems, E-Activities, Cyber Security.
